David has worked in the accountancy & tax profession for 38 years, 32 of those years specifically in medical / NHS finance acting for a national portfolio of NHS clinicians with regards to Tax compliance.

As a highly experienced Medical Tax Director, David offers expertise and in-depth knowledge of all taxation affairs for medical professionals, taking you from qualification through to retirement.

With a dedicated tax team of eight, David and his team deliver a highly personal, responsive tax service to BW Medical Clients. 

Acting for over 2,000 healthcare professionals including GP Partners, Dentists, Locums, Hospital Doctors, Consultants and Officers. The client service you will receive from our tax department is first class, with an annual fixed fee billing policy meaning there are no nasty surprises and you receive free telephone support and guidance throughout the year.

Professional Experience

David began his career in the taxation sector in 1986 at the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue & Customs) as an administrative tax assistant. In 1987 David moved to Robert Miller Tate Accountants (now RMT) as a Tax Junior, before quickly progressing to the position of Taxation Senior, where he was responsible for a large portfolio of clients primarily within the medical profession on all areas of taxation.

David became Tax Senior at RMT in 1995 where he managed a portfolio of healthcare clients and progressed to Tax Manager.

In August 2013 David left RMT to join leading medical specialist, Keith Taylor and the team at BW Medical Accountants - BW Medical now has the largest dedicated team of experts in the North and is one of very few niche medical accountancy firms in England who solely acts for healthcare clients. Expertise at BW is arguably unrivaled nationally, therefore our reputation is building along with our 35+ strong team as we act for clients from the borders to London.


As Tax Director, David manages our dedicated tax team of professionals and oversees the tax compliance of the client base with extensive client contact. He is the only non-clinician to lecture on the postgraduate school of primary care GP programme at a leading University. He teaches financial awareness to 3rd year registrars so they understand the accountancy, tax and NHS pension implications of any career path and can start to make informed financial decisions.
