A north east niche accountancy business, which opened last year, has experienced such business growth in the past six months, expanding its client portfolio and employing additional staff, that it has moved to larger premises.
Newcastle-based BW Medical Accountants, a national firm of medical accountancy specialists launched in July 2013, has relocated to 6,000 sq. ft. BW House in Gosforth Business Park, which is also the new head office for sister company, Blackett Walker Ltd.
Following an investment of over £1million by Blackett Walker Ltd to launch BW Medical and purchase the new head office, the company has enjoyed tremendous success, with the number of staff tripling from four to 12 and now has over 180 medical clients across the UK on its books. Due to the increase in demand for its niche services, the firm is looking to recruit more medical financial specialists during 2014.
Led by Keith Taylor, Head of Medical Services and Peter Waller, Head of Tax, both leading specialists in their field, the firm is delighted with the response to its business services and the development of its national base of medical clients.
Keith Taylor, Head of Medical Services, BW Medical Accountants, said: "The first six months have been tremendously busy for the team and we are delighted with the success and overall growth of the business. The new building, which houses both companies, is an investment in the future of the BW Group and is an impressive facility for our clients across the country.
"As the only niche practice in the north, we have recruited staff for their knowledge of medical finance and offer a truly integrated team. The benefit of investing in exceptionally high standards of staff with the necessary breadth of knowledge is that we can provide expert advice on all aspects of medical finance, including NHS pensions, personal wealth management and retirement.
"We estimate that less than 50 per cent of GP practices are currently supported by specialist medical accountants, and so we are looking forward to a busy year and to helping as many medical professionals as possible manage their finances and navigate the challenges facing the sector."
BW recently recruited specialist medical accountants Ann Crowder, Tina Milligan and Rachel Ormston to further strengthen its accountancy team and service its portfolio of clients across the UK.
Ann Crowder, a certified accountant from Rowlands Gill in Gateshead, brings over 25 years experience in the financial industry. As a medical services accountant at BW Medical Accountants, Ann is responsible for managing the clients' financial accounts as well as providing strategic advice.
New to the team is Tina Milligan from Whitley Bay, a highly experienced accountant and qualified maths teacher with a proven track record in the preparation of accounts for medical professionals. Her new role as medical services accountant will see her manage the preparation of medical accounts for clients and NHS pension forecasting as well as advising and supporting clients on all aspects of their accounting systems.
Rachel Ormston has also joined the team as a medical services accountant. Rachel, from Walbottle in Newcastle, has worked in the accountancy sector for five years, gaining experience in medical accounts for GPs and the dental industry.
The specialist accountancy and tax advice provided to clients is complemented by the expert NHS pension advice from the team of independent financial advisers at sister company Blackett Walker.
BW Medical Accountants is a team of specialist medical accountants with extensive experience and niche expertise in the healthcare sector. Based on traditional values with a modern approach, the firm aims to simplify the financial planning process to provide the most effective solutions.
