The Ukraine crisis is the fastest-growing refugee situation in Europe since WWII. According to the UNHCR, the UN’s refugee agency, over 2 million Ukrainians have been forced to flee the country as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion and occupation. The humanitarian needs that have arisen as a result of the crisis are massive, and are rapidly increasing.
BW Medical have the opportunity to support one of our loyal clients, Whickham Dental Practice, who will be providing support to Ukrainians who have sought refuge and safety in Poland. Practice owner and Principal Dentist, Andrew Dixon, plans to drive three vans in convoy to Poland, alongside his spouse Jayne, Patient Coordinator Julie Marshall and her husband Darren with Practice Manager Amanda Cain’s husband Michael in the third van. The trip will take 72 hours and has been scheduled for the 25th of March 2022.
As such, Andrew and co. are asking for donations of essential supplies to give to the Ukrainian refugees. Given the speed of their mass exodus from the country, many of the refugees are lacking daily goods and essentials. In order to make the most of the limited space in the van, the team from Whickham Dental Practice are focusing on smaller, indispensable items.
If any of our clients, colleagues, or friends would be willing to help support this necessary cause, their assistance would be massively appreciated. The below items have been identified as of crucial need, so if you’re reading this and are able to spare any of the following, the team would be hugely grateful.
- Nappies
- Sanitary products
- Hairbrushes, toiletries
- First aid kits
- Paracetamol and ibuprofen
- Batteries, flashlights, and candles
- Long-lasting dry food supplies, such as pasta, rice, canned meat or fish (with ring pull), coffee, tea
In order to ensure that the aid reaches Poland as soon as possible, the deadline for donations will be 22nd March 2022.
