Intro

Mark's career in accountancy and finance began in 1984 when he joined BDO Reads Ltd in Guernsey and over a 14 year period he trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant and then developed his role from Audit Senior through to Audit Manager and then to Audit Director.  Mark has held a number of senior accounting roles over his career and before joining BW he spent 5 years working as a Finance Director for a healthcare company. 

Professional Experience

From 1999 to 2004 Mark worked as a Project Accountant within the financial control department of Deutsche Bank Offshore in Guernsey, Jersey and Dublin where he was responsible for several projects in connection with the group's accounting and financial reporting systems.

Moving to the NE in 2004, Mark initially worked as a project accountant for Akzo Nobel where he was involved in the planning and implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley audit work.  From 2004 to 2007 Mark worked as Corporate Finance Manager for RMT Accountants where he was responsible for services including business acquisitions & disposals, due diligence, business plans, financial forecasting, fund-raising and business valuations.

From 2007 to 2013 Mark was the Finance Director and Company Secretary for Connect Physical Health Centres (PHC) Ltd.  Connect is one of the largest independent providers of NHS Musculoskeletal(MSK) services which are delivered in the local community, by chartered physiotherapists, specialist GP's and Consultants working in an integrated way and are contracted to deliver services to over 15 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) from London in the South, to Northumberland in the North. 

Mark was part of the senior management team and during Mark's time at Connect the company's turnover tripled in size and the number of employees grew by over 250%. 

Mark was responsible for the day to day running and leadership of the finance and data department and as a Director was part of the Strategic Board.
